Changes to free accounts & Patreon supporter tiers

Today I want to announce that there are coming changes to patreon supporter tiers, and to what is available to free accounts, starting on June 15th 2026. (spoiler: room creation restrictions + a new feature for d100 supporters)

From now until June 15th 2026 - Support dddice for only $3 a month to lock in unlimited rooms!

First the difficult news

As many of you may have already learned, dddice isn't - or wasn't my main occupation. Unfortunately, last month I lost my day job, so ensuring that dddice is a profitable business is super important now. While I do have dreams of dddice one day supporting me financially, my goal today is to make sure I can cover costs and maybe have a bit left over to advertise and etc.

To that end, I will be adding actual value to the various patron tiers. I will also need to do what every app eventually has to do, restrict the free offering.

Today, any registered account can create as many dice rooms as they like. Starting June 15th 2026, this will be reduced to 1 and only 1 room. If you already have more than one room, you wont lose it, but you will not be able to make more.

Additionally, the following features will be moving to be Patreon only

• Naming rooms
• Uploading Image backgrounds
• Animating more than 25 dice on screen at once

So many of you have supported me on Patreon over the years just because you love dddice - especially anyone in the d100 tier. And I love you all back. To show that love, everyone who is currently a patreon supporter, or who signs up before June 15th 2026, will be grandfathered into unlimited rooms.

For anyone becoming a patreon supporter after June 15th 2026, room ownership will be limited to 2 for d4 supporters, 5 for d20 supporters and 10 for d100 supporters.

Second, the new feature

I also added a new feature for our d100 supporters to enjoy, video backgrounds! In the same way  you can upload a png or jpg, d100 supporters can upload a short mp4 or webm file for all your players to see. As always I relish your feedback.
